What is RSS and RSS Feeds?

At the more interesting pages on our web site you will find this little symbol "".  No it's not a nasty rash but a new service that we've decide to trial.

Using RSS you can have the latest news and features delivered directly to you, rather than clicking from site to site.  We know that our web site is updated only sporadically and that isn't always ideal. Sometimes it isn't updated and other times it's updated more than once between your visits.  In this WE notify YOU when it's updated, but only if YOU want to be notified.

RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. It allows you to select content you like on a site and have it delivered to you electronically.

It takes away the hassle of going to all your favourite sites just to keep up-to-date.

Not all websites currently provide RSS, but we now offer this innovative service.

How do I start using RSS feeds?

The first thing you need is something called a news reader. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications.  All allow you to display and subscribe to any RSS feeds you want.

Just "drag and drop" the RSS icon into news reader and you'll be notified when something significant happens to us or the web site, like new photos, new ski holiday etc etc

I'm not going to suggest that these are the best news readers, there are just too many of them and I certainly haven't tested them all.  But of those that I've tested I like (mostly because they are free!):-

RSSBandit

Awasu

RSSReader

But you use whatever takes your fancy.  I know a lot of people like SharpReader, but I didn't get on with it.
